So here on The Mighty Podcast, we do like to kick things off with an icebreaker. I’m really excited to really dig into those experiences and get a little bit more education for our community. I hope that by sharing my personal experience with MDD, I can help empower others to find the help they need with a health care professional.Īlright, thank you all again for being here. I know for me hearing other people’s MDD stories helped me through my own personal journey. I married my husband about two years ago and spend my free time hiking, trail running, reading, traveling, and gardening. I’m 40 years old, and I’m an Operations Assistant and a US Army veteran living in St. I hope that by sharing my personal experience, others living with MDD will seek to get help that they need. But I have been able to work with a health care professional help me find the right treatment plan for me. I live with MDD, and it has its challenges. I love to travel, hang out with my friends, go to festivals, events and concerts. I’m 29 years old, and I live in Virginia currently. But previously I worked in sales in the health care space. I currently work in marketing for a technology company. I’m also very honored to be here today, and to share my story and my journey. That’s been one of the best parts of my job. I love so many things about what I do, but what continues to excite and motivate me is the fact that patients are so willing to share with me their most internal struggles and trust me with their care. We diagnose and treat children, adolescents, and adults with a range of psychiatric illnesses, including major depressive disorder. I’m the owner and one of the three psychiatric nurse practitioners at an outpatient private practice in Connecticut that I began in 2003. And I’ve been a psychiatric nurse practitioner for about 27 years now. Hi, so thanks again for having me here today. Michele, I am going to hand it over to you to kick off introducing yourself. I’m your host, Ashley, and I’m happy to be joined here today by Michele Novella, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, as well as Tatiana and April who both live with MDD and who are here to share their experiences living with MDD. I want to reiterate that we’ll be sharing personal experiences with MDD today, and please remember that everyone’s experience may be different. It’s important to work closely with your health care professional for your particular situation. Medication may not be appropriate for every patient. Please remember that only a health care professional can diagnose MDD. Today we’re going to be talking about major depressive disorder or MDD, a type of depression, and a potential treatment option for adults with MDD.
